Jean Schanz
Starting as an art major I graduated Farleigh Dickinson with a degree in Computer Science. I enjoyed working as a Computer Programmer, Systems Analyst and Software Engineer for some 20 years. Throughout this time continuing to paint searching for my artistic niche to pursue. I attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City obtaining a degree in Photography. After enjoying some professional endeavors in this field, it was still not my time to make a career switch. I then got married and had two wonderful boys who are growing into fabulous teenagers. Coincidentally I have discovered making jewelry with PMC (precious metal clay), fused glass and felting. I am so passionate about this new endeavor, I have decided to start my own business creating these unique hand made one of a kind pieces of jewelry. The name of my new business is Azure Willow Designs. My hopes are that my exploration of many different mediums and genres of art will inspire me to create pieces that will resonate in the hearts of all that see and buy them.
Inspirations for my one of a kind jewelry come from pieces or smaller parts of what I see in nature, architecture, textiles and all that surround me. Subsequently these images are transformed from something that has caught my eye into a piece of art. Occasionally this piece creates a vision for another to be crafted. No two pieces are exactly alike, as they are all hand made.
I am currently a member of the Artists of Bristol on the Deleware and have shown my work at the Silver Lake Art Center at their previous art shows, at the Middletown Township show “Celebrating the Human Spirit” and Bucks Community College at many of their exhibits. Also my jewelry has been on display at the Hamilton Library, in Hamilton NJ
